How We Roll- Haitian style

A few people have asked me, “What are you doing in Haiti?
What does your daily and weekly schedule look like? How are you helping the
Haitians?” I am very excited to share

Throughout my stay in Haiti I have been leading groups,
pretty much I have the opportunity to go ahead of the teams and organize the
activities that will be facilitated throughout the week and day. Most recently
I have moved out of the leadership roll into a support staff roll. My responsibility
is to help the project leader with whatever they need. If the team gets split into two different
teams I help facilitate the activities that are doing through the day.

So what am I facilitating? We
have a few different ministries that we are participating in. The ministry I
have taken the most active role in is Children’s Ministry. I help organize and
flesh out vacation bible school, or teach English, depending on the pastor that
we are working with. AIM’s main vision is to work alongside the natives and
pastors to enable them!

Another ministry is
construction. When this ministry began we were putting up tarps for those who
were living under cloth sheets. We have transitioned slightly and have added
knocking down walls, and are building a roof for a church.

We also have a sports ministry.
We use this as a tool to reach the teen boys. There is also a medical ministry.
These ministries are normally worked into the other two. The teams abilities
really shape which ministries we focus on throughout the week. We have given
away a ton of beans and rice. This has to be thoroughly thought out and given
to a pastor or a community leader, otherwise chaos is imminent and very
dangerous!! We have all these ministries going on, but the number one ministry
is PRAYER!!! Prayer moves the hand of God and it is our primary focus to be in
God’s Will at all times during the day, even if that means stopping what we are
doing and asking God to speak.

So what does my week look like?

ADVENTURES in Missions which is a very fitting name! You never know what fun
thing might occur during the week!
